Legends of The Dancefloor - A Piece Of Paradise 3500 miles from Paradise. The English adMinistered Paul Oakenfold, DJ's Harvey, Heidi and Justin Berkman inspired by Larry
DJ Paul Oakenfold - English DJ, Oaky, as he is affectionately known, has seen and done everything as a world number 1 DJ including touring with U2 and Madonna around the world as their choice of DJ to support their shows, Paul has also run one of the best dance labels with his Perfecto brand. In his interview Paul tells very clearly how his trip to New York City in the 80's totally changed his life, inspiring his choices and decisions from that moment onwards, including his resident DJ terms at UK club brands Cream and The Ministry of Sound. We caught up with Paul in New York whilst he was in the city getting ready to DJ that night where he explains that the very last remix Larry completed before his passing was a cult record by DJ H. Feat. Stefy - "Come On Boy" as organized by Paul himself.
The Clash - Rock The Casbah
D Train - Your The One For Me
DJ H. Feat. Stefy - Come On Boy
DJ Harvey and DJ Heidi - Two English DJ's now living in Venice, California re-tell of their experiences with Larry Levan in London, going to that DJ H. Feat. Stefy - "Come On Boy" remix session bringing records on the Tube across London from Camden to Barnes's Olympic Studios, Levan playing at their club night Moist, staying at their home and how he blew them away when he played the opening night at London's Ministry Of Sound after re-tuning the sound system. This was the last trip Larry made to the UK before he passed.
Harold Melvin and The Blue Notes - Don't Leave Me This Way
4 to the Bar - Slam Me Baby
Steve Miller Band - Macho City
DJ Justin Berkman - The founding, originating brain of The Ministry Of Sound club in London tells how as a 23 year old he is on his way around the world when he stops briefly in Manhattan but never leaves because he has found religion - The Paradise Garage. That when it closed in '87 his world and the live's many others fell empty so he came back to the UK, saw the rave scene exploding in the fields then decided that London needed a version of the Paradise Garage, so he set about finding investment, found a venue (the same building the MOS is still today) and pulled everything together to replace the hole in his life by creating one of the biggest known clubs in the world today. Justin's interview is stunningly lucid from beginning to the end. Respect is due to JB.
